Cape Breton Regional Hospital Telethermic Distribution Piping
As the project’s general mechanical contractor, Bird oversaw the installation of 16,000 feet of double-wall buried Perma-Pipe Piping System for the hospital’s new heating and cooling system.
The Cape Breton Regional Hospital is the main referral and trauma centre for residents of Cape Breton Island. Originally constructed in 1995, CBRH required a piping system to feed the new heating and cooling system from the energy building to new hospital facilities and future developments. The project scope included the supply and installation of all labour, materials, and equipment. Bird managed surveying, pressure testing, and commissioning while coordinating subcontractors and site logistics to meet key schedule milestones.

Powering Through Winter
Our team worked through challenging winter conditions, collaborating closely with the construction manager to coordinate all routing, trenching, civil, dewatering, de-icing, snow removal, and fencing to meet the project’s scheduled milestones.
