Mechanical Construction

From installation and replacement to late-night emergency repairs, Bird is on-call with high-efficiency solutions for mechanical systems. Leveraging our expertise in plumbing, gas, and refrigeration, we focus on upgrading systems with cost-effective, sustainable solutions. Our experienced technicians are proficient in all aspects of mechanical, including:

HVAC/R

Our HVAC/R team is backed by a fleet of cutting-edge equipment and custom-built in-house components, ensuring top performance and reliability. Specializing in retrofits, we handle inspections, diagnostics, replacements, and repairs, making old systems run like new. In addition, Bird offers preventative maintenance and comprehensive operator training across a wide range of systems:

  • HVAC/R systems, including rooftop units.
  • Pumps, motors, coils, and controls.
  • Air handling units.
  • Refrigeration units and piping.
  • Start-up and commissioning services.
  • Gas and refrigeration piping.

Civil Construction

Our civil team offers a wide range of support with the design, maintenance, and development of infrastructure. Managing both independent and subcontractor projects, our operational branch specializes in innovative designs and structural requirements, including building envelope work and interior and exterior modifications. From excavation and trenching to interior demolition, our broad scope of services includes:

  • Concrete housekeeping pads, curbs, and sidewalks.
  • Steel and wood framing.
  • Drywall boarding and taping.
  • Masonry modification and rework.
  • Building envelope penetrations.
  • Epoxy floor coating.

Fabrication

Bird offers turnkey solutions, streamlined by our in-house fabrication shop. Our 40,000 SF, state-of-the-art facility features multiple five-to-20-ton cranes, pipe positioners, automated saws, top-of-the-line welding machines, and an automated oxy-acetylene/plasma pipe cutting machine—all in accordance with CSA standards.

We are registered with TSSA to produce high-quality materials, including:

  • Repair and alterations of boilers, pressure vessels, piping, and category A, B, C, D, E, F and H-type fittings.
  • Fabrication and assembly of power and process piping.
  • Manufacturing of pressure vessels in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1, and CSA Standard B51.
  • Fabrication of welded and non-welded Category H-type fittings.
